La Vega Estate



La Vega Estate is located in Gran Couva, Trinidad, approximately fifteen (15) minutes off the Solomon Hochoy Highway. The estate is situated on approximately 250 acres of land and is packed with activities to keep visitors entertained all day long.     Very relaxing atmosphere to spend time with your family and friends. Fishing is a must for me every time I go to La Vega... and i always buy a plant for my mom :)

Devil's Woodyard

Devil's Woodyard is Trinidad’s most visited mud volcano and is a natural landmark. Located in Hindustan, New Grant, the vents first appeared in 1852. Rumor has it that the site gained its name after its first eruption in 1852 which shook the entire village, trees fell and the villagers were frightened, they believed that the devil had come from beneath the earth to ‘fell the woods’. To date, several small mounds of grey mud are visible, ranging from a few feet to a few inches in height. Most are dormant now but there is some evidence of recent activity. Fresh mud can be seen on the side of some cones while others are dry caked mud. Some cones still bubbled occasionally with grey mud that is cool to the touch. Apart from the cones, medium sized pools holding grey muddy water can be seen these still bubble occasionally indicating that gases are still escaping the vents.
